Woodbridge Main Library - Ground Floor Meeting Room
Michael Norris, Ph.D. will guide us on Tuesday, December 3 @ 7 PM at the Woodbridge Main Library in an exploration through centuries of art, much of it now housed in East Coast museums, of how a kind Turkish bishop evolved into one of Christianity’s most beloved saints. Then through an analysis of American artwork we'll see Saint Nicholas changed again—into our beloved Santa Claus.
Our presenter, Michael Norris, received his BA in Classics from the University of California at San Diego, his MA in Classics and his Ph.D. in Art History from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He spent twenty years at the Cloisters Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. For over twenty years Mike has also given presentations in classical and medieval art throughout New Jersey. In addition, he has lectured on trips all over the world.
This program is free and open to all. No registration is needed.
