Imagine if you couldn't read a prescription, job application, bedtime story or ballot. Become a volunteer literacy tutor and help adults improve their reading, writing, or English skills. Just two hours a week of working with an adult student will change his or her life—and yours.
Literacy New Jersey needs volunteers to work as tutors, helping adults with reading, writing, speaking English, and math. Students and tutors meet at a location convenient to both, such as a local library. Location is determined by student and tutor. Registration is required. For your registration packet, please contact Melissa Bernstein at firstname.lastname@example.org or 732-906-5456.
Our staff will guide you through the necessary steps to becoming a tutor by providing the necessary training, matching you with a student whose learning needs fit your abilities, and supporting you in working with your student.
Training will be held from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm on Saturday October 6, 13, 20 & 27, 2018 @ the Fords Branch Library (Fords Library 211 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863).
