WPL Teen Flash Fiction & Short Film Contest

October 1 - 31 2017

The Woodbridge Public Library is looking for the spookiest stories and creepiest films you can make!
Submit a story under 1500 words or a short film under 3 minutes for a chance to win a prize and show your evil genius to the world! Open to grades 8-12. 

The contest runs from October 1 - 31 2017. All entries must be received by 9:00 PM on October 31 in order to be considered. Winners will be notified in November. 
Open to students in grades 8-12. To submit your story or short film, keep reading for the Rules and then complete the entry form here



Open to students in grades 8-12 in the Woodbridge Township School District. Also open to home-school students in applicable grades. 
You must have a registered Woodbridge Public Library card to enter. Please stop by the Main library or a branch to register for a library card.
Failure to follow the contest guidelines will result in your work not being considered (so read the rules carefully!). 
All submissions must have a horror or Halloween-related theme (or both!). Even better if it’s library-related! 
Submissions must be original, previously unpublished work and contain no adult content or strong language. 
All entries will be judged by Woodbridge Public Library staff and members of the Teen Advisory Group. 
One entry per participant per category. 


For Flash Fiction: 

Stories must be 1500 words or less
Must be double-spaced and typed
Must be submitted in doc or docx format


For Short Films: 

Short films must be under 3 minutes in length (including title and credits)
Short films should be submitted as a YouTube link. To create a YouTube link: 
o After your video is edited, create a free YouTube account and upload your video at www.youtube.com. All videos are subject to the YouTube terms of use found at www.youtube.com/t/terms. After uploading and creating a link, complete the online entry form here and submit the link to your video where applicable. 
Provide proper credits for any music or images you use that are not original works that allow public usage.
