Animal Trapping

Residents interested in obtaining a Township trap or removing a trapped animal should contact animal control at 732-855-0600, ext. 5007.

Procedure

The procedure is as follows:
  • Call Woodbridge Township Animal Control during normal Business Hours Monday-Saturday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 732-855-0600, ext. 5007. This is the extension at the Health Department that fields calls for Animal Control. Request a trap or request the removal of a trapped animal (only during normal business hours).
  • There is no charge, however a copy of your driver's license will be made by animal control and held on file until its return.
  • There is a high demand for traps so each resident is limited to 5 business days each time a trap is borrowed.
  • Traps must be disabled at 4 p.m. and reset the following morning (unless authorized by animal control to set it for other times)
  • If you are trapping skunks we request that the trap be covered before you set it (this prevents the skunk from spraying when the trap is removed
  • If you have your own trap, please call animal control before you begin trapping
  • Do not leave animals in traps for more than two hours
  • If trapping in inclement weather or extreme heat, traps must be shaded from the sun, and covered if it is raining. Trapping prohibited December 15 through March 31st unless preapproved by Animal Control staff.
  • Any trap picked up after 4:30 p.m. will result in a $25 charge. There are no pick-ups on Sundays or Holidays.

Take Note of Control Office Recommendations

At this time of year, wildlife is extremely active and can become a nuisance. Animal Control has a limited amount of traps to lend out to residents. There are certain guidelines that need to be followed for the sake of the animal that is being trapped as well as the ability for our personnel to respond in a timely manner. Also bear in mind that often the demand is greater than the supply, so a trap may not always be readily available.
