How you can help us....

Never Pour Grease Down the Drain…….

Hold it right there! Don’t even think about pouring that grease down the drain, it can cause serious problems. So, what are you supposed to do with it? If it’s hot, you can pour it into an old jar or can, let it cool and then toss it in the trash or let it cool in the pan and then wipe it out with paper towels. Why Is Grease Bad for Drains? Grease solidifies once it cools off. It might flow out of the pan and down the drain, but in a few minutes the grease solidifies in the pipes and acts as a sticky trap for gunk and debris. Over time this blockage can clog the pipes or slow the drain. Grease also wreaks havoc on local sewer systems. Significant amounts of grease in sewers (fatbergs!) have even been known to clog neighborhood sewer systems. Don’t flush those baby/sanitary wipes….. Toilet papers will dissolve within minutes or at the most a day. But the same cannot be said for a baby wipe. In fact, some baby wipes can stay for months in the pipes before they dissolve. They can get caught up on deposits in your pipes, which means backups and your sewage system will stop working. Sometimes the baby wipes pass through the sewage system without problems. The truth is the treatment plant will suffer in the end. The fibrous baby wipes cause the pumps to work beyond their capacity. Since they do more work, the pumps get overheated and damaged over time. This can lead to high repair costs for the town. So put those wipes where they belong, in the bathroom garbage can! Your plumbing will thank you!
