The Trevor Project offers support to the LGBTQ young adult community. Both of the hotlines provides 24/7 help.
There are also suicide hotlines specific to your area.

3. Eating Disorder Hotline
National Eating Disorder Association: 1-800-931-2237
NEDA offers help to a variety of eating disorders and hopes to "envision a world without eating disorders." NEDA is available Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (EST).

4. General Crisis
Crisis Text Line: Text SUPPORT to 741-741
The Crisis Text Line extends to everyone. Their goal is to help people move from a hot moment to a cool calm, guiding you to create a plan to stay safe and healthy. YOU ARE the priority. 24/7 help is available.

5. Mental Illness Hotline
National Alliance on Mental Illness: 1-800-950-6264
NAMI provides treatment options and programs. They wish to "raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need." The NAMI hotline is available every Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m

6. Sexual Assault Hotline
Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network: 1-800-656-4673
RAINN is the "nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization."  Their goal is to provide options and programs to victims, in addition to finding ways of preventing sexual violence. RAINN offers 24/7 help.

7. Veterans Crisis Line
Veterans Association: 1-800-273-8255
The VA's focus is to help veterans of all ages adjust to the transition of coming back, in addition to helping with any mental health issues or relationships. The VA offers 24/7 help.

Memorial Day

Stay Safe During Memorial Day!

As the weather begins to get warmer, make sure you & your fury loved ones are staying safe with a few tips.

Sun Exposure

  • When outdoors use sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor of 15 or higher for protection from ultraviolet (UV) A and ultraviolet (UV) B.
  • Cover your head to help shield the sun’s UV rays.
  • Wear long sleeves and pants to protect the skin from the sun.
  • Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays.
Mosquito Control
  • Drain standing water around your home and yard.
  • Dress wearing long sleeves and long pants when going outdoors.
  • During dusk/dawn - avoid being outdoors when mosquitoes are most active.
  • Use an EPA-approved repellent.
 
Food Safety
  • Use separate cutting boards and utensils for raw meat and ready-to-eat items like vegetables or bread.
  • Keep perishable food cold until it is ready to cook.
  • Use a food thermometer to make sure meat and poultry are cooked thoroughly to their safe minimum temperatures.
  • Always use a fresh, clean plate and tongs for serving cooked food. Never reuse items that touched raw meat or poultry to serve the food once it is cooked.
  • Perishable food should not sit out for more than two hours and when in hot weather above 90°F, food should never sit out for more than one hour.
Keeping Our Pets Safe
  • Ensure that your cat or dog is microchipped and wearing and identification tag imprinted with your home address, cell phone number, and other relevant information.
  • Make sure your pet is on a year-round heartworm preventative medication, as well as flea and tick control.
  • Check your pets daily for ticks. If your pet has a tick, remove carefully with tweezers by gripping as close to the skin as possible and pull straight out with steady pressure.
  • When on road trips, long or short, make sure your pet is secured in a seatbelt harness designed especially for them.
