Woodbridge Township Hosts Memorial Day Services
|

It’s Memorial Day Weekend!!! Let’s remember to take time to honor and remember our fellow Township residents who have served – and continue to serve - our nation and community. This Memorial Day, our mission as a community is to get word to our "Home Town Hero's" serving in the military - Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard - many of whom are currently deployed to Military Stations around the globe, that we offer our prayers for a safe journey home. Celebrate our freedom and honor the memory of those who fought for our liberty at one of the Memorial Day events this weekend. Colonia VFW Post #6061 will host a special Memorial Day service on Sun., May 28, 2017 to honor Cpl. Kevin J. Reinhard, USMC - Cpl. Kevin J. Reinhard was the first Woodbridge Township soldier to give his life for our country since the war in Afghanistan began more than 15 years ago. Cpl. Reinhard, assigned to Marine Heavylicopter Squadron 363, was one of six U.S. Marines who died “In-The-Line-Of-Duty” in January 2012 while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Cpl. Reinhard Memorial service starts at 11:15 AM at the Gazebo in Charlie Shaughnessy Park, Inman Avenue, Colonia.
Colonia VFW Post #6061 will hold their annual Memorial Day service at Noon on Sun., May 28, 2017 at the Colonia VFW Post located at 600 Inman Avenue, Colonia. Following the services, the Colonia VFW will host a Memorial Day BBQ. $20.00 per person (children under 10 Free). Keasbey Fire Company #1 will hold a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Parade & Service at the Keasbey War Memorial Monument Park (foot of Edison Bridge on Smith Street). The Parade steps-off at 7:30 AM from the Keasbey Fire Department (420 Smith Street, Keasbey) and will march to the Keasbey War Memorial Monument Park for the 8:00 AM Memorial Service.
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 04-04 Station Sewaren (Woodbridge Township) will conduct a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Wreath-Laying Ceremony at 9:00 AM at the Woodbridge Marina and Boat Launch at the foot of Cliff Street in Sewaren. Members of the USCG Flotilla will lay a wreath in honor of the men and women lost at sea.
Port Reading Fire Company #1 will conduct their annual Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Flag-Raising & Remembrance Service at 9:00 AM outside the Fire Company Headquarters, 916 West Ave., Port Reading.
Avenel Fire Department will conduct their annual Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Flag-Raising & Remembrance Service at 9:30 AM at the Avenel Fire House, 346 Avenel Street, Avenel.

Avenel VFW Memorial Post #7164 will conduct a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) service at 10:00 AM at the Post Headquarters located at 60 West Park Avenue, Avenel. Hopelawn VFW Memorial Post #1352 will conduct a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Flag-Raising service at 10:30 AM at the Hopelawn Fire Department located at 127 Loretta Street, Hopelawn. American Legion T. Nulty Post #471 will conduct their annual Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) Flag-Raising & Memorial service at 11:00 AM at Post Headquarters, 25 Brown Avenue, Iselin. Iselin VFW Memorial Post #2636 will hold a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) service at 11:00 AM at the Auth Avenue Memorial (located outside Post Headquarters on Auth Avenue) in Iselin. Woodbridge VFW Post #4410 will conduct a Memorial Day (Mon., May 29, 2017) service at 11:00 AM at the Post Headquarters, 393 Pearl Street, Woodbridge.
