Kick-Off Summer at WB SummerFest 2017:  Coming June 22

It’s Almost Summer!!!!  Which means it’s time to plan your “Staycation ~ Vacation” in Woodbridge.  We’re kicking-off the Summer festivities with the first-ever WB SummerFest – a FREE preview of this Summer’s upcoming Concerts, Events, Festivals and Happenings!!  The region’s hottest band – THE BENJAMINS – take the stage at 7:30 PM. Enjoy a preview performance from the Woodbridge Community Players and the cast of West Side Story.  Shop the Farmers Market.  Sign-up for the Pizza Run and other wellness events.  And There Is So Much More To Explore!!!  The WB SummerFest arrives on Thurs., June 22 at 4:00 PM at the Woodbridge Community Center, 600 Main Street.


Mayor’s Summer Concert Series Ready to “Rock ‘n’ Roll’

The Mayor’s Summer Concert Series “Doubles-Up” this Summer with “Doo Wop” Monday and Tribute Band “Rock n’ Roll” Tuesday!!!  The incredible lineup of classic Monday “doo wop” bands opens on June 26 with everyone’s favorite – The Duprees.  Tribute Band Tuesday takes the stage on June 27 with Radio Nashville.  Concerts start at 7:30 PM on the grass field behind Woodbridge High School.  Woodbridge Wednesday “LIVE” concerts return to the Parker Press Park stage on June 28 with performances every Wednesday night at 7:30 P.M.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends!  Local Band Thursday kicks-off their hometown concert season with local musicians and their bands on June 29 at Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM.  Second Friday Jazz musicians take the stage at 7:30 PM from Frank Pelzman Park in Avenel (end of West Park Avenue on Tappen Street).  Country Sunday returns to the Parker Press stage every Sunday night at 6:00 PM with the biggest Country-Western bands in the area.   The cost of admission to the Mayor’s Summer Concert’s is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the “We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank.”  Check out the full Mayor Summer Concert  line-up on the Township Web Page at: www.twp.woodbridge.nj.us


SECOND FRIDAY JAZZ OPENING NIGHT – TONIGHT AT 7:30 PM

Second Friday Jazz opens tonight (Fri., June 9) with Michael Mwenso and the Shakes “LIVE” on-stage from Frank Pelzman Park in Avenel (end of West Park Avenue on Tappen Street).  Second Friday Jazz is FREE.  Concert-goers are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items for donation to the Township food bank.

Calling All Woodbridge Actors & Actresses... “My Big Gay Italian Funeral” - A New Comedy by: Anthony J. Wilkinson – is auditioning for mature actors/actresses (30 years +).  Open Call Auditions for the cast of “My Big Gay Italian Funeral” are scheduled for Thurs., June 15, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Woodbridge Community Center (600 Main Street). Auditioning talent must bring a copy of their headshot and resume and will be given an audition scene to prepare upon arrival.

“Greenable Woodbridge” leads a “Walk in the Woodbridge Wild” at Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve in Avenel on Saturday (June 10).  Explore the wetland and upland plant community at the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve on a guided tour... learn to identify native plant species common right here in Woodbridge.  Walks in the Woodbridge Wild are sponsored by M&T Bank and Bayshore Recycling.  The walk & explore tour starts at 10:00 AM from the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve located at Omar Avenue in Avenel.

Mayor’s Fluke Tournament Weighs Anchor on Sat., June 17

Anchors Away & Cast Off!!!  Try your luck at deep-channel fishing!!!  The Annual Mayor’s Fluke Tournament casts-off on Sat., June 17.  The tournament runs from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Weigh-in at the Sewaren boat launch.  Prizes include a First Place check for $1,000 (based on 40 boats).  Cost is $125.00 per boat - But you need to register.  Proceeds support Woodbridge Township youngsters diagnosed with acute disease.  Call the Township Recreation Department at (732) 596-4048 for registration and information.
