FIREWORKS OVER THE WOODBRIDGE WATERFRONT!!! CELEBRATE AN EVENING DEDICTED TO AMERICA & HER HEROS ON WED., JULY 3 AT ALVIN P. WILLIAMS MEMORIAL PARK ON THE SEWAREN WATERFRONT. The annual Woodbridge Township Independence Day Festival & Fireworks get underway on Tues., July 3 at Alvin P. Williams Memorial Park on the Sewaren waterfront. The Independence Day festivities kick-off with live music by Special Guests Good to Go. Mayor McCormac and Township officials recognize Woodbridge Township First Responders, Veterans and Military personnel at 7:15 PM.

The Time Machine take the stage at 8:00 PM followed by the incredible "Bringing the Night to Life" fireworks display choreographed to music at dusk (approximately 9:15 PM) - the fireworks will be simulcast on 1079 WOLD radio. Alvin P. Williams Park will be closed during the day to allow for the fireworks set-up. The gates will open to the public at 4:00 PM. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnics are encouraged. There is no reserved seating and no alcoholic beverages are permitted in the park. TRAFFIC ALERT: At the conclusion of the fireworks all traffic exiting Sewaren via Ferry Street (by Moby Dick’s) will be directed to make a left turn onto State Street. Traffic will not be permitted to make a right turn onto West Avenue towards Woodbridge. State Street traffic into Perth Amboy will be prohibited from turning right onto Maurer Road. Traffic will be diverted down West Ave./State Street onto Route 440, to Amboy Avenue, back into Woodbridge.

Mayor’s Summer Concert Series On-Stage This Week

The Mayor’s Summer Concert Series returns to the Country Sunday Parker Press Park stage on Sunday (July 1) with Michela Anne. Golden Oldies Monday host The Capris on Monday (July 2) at 7:30 PM on the grass field behind Woodbridge High School. Local Band Thursday performs on Thursday (July 5) with Kickback Band on-stage at Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends! Take a “Walk in the Woodbridge Wild” at the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve in Avenel on Sat., June 30. Did you know that nine species of bats call New Jersey home and many can be seen flying around Woodbridge at nighttime!!! Explore the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve as light fades into dusk to watch bats hunt insects using echolocation and learn about their unique ecology. Walking tour leaves from the Oros Wildlife Preserve Gazebo at 7:30 PM. The Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve is located at Omar Avenue in Avenel. Register by email or phone to secure a space on the tour. Woodbridge is on the run... for pizza! The Mayor's Wellness Campaign, The Club at Woodbridge and Wegmans sponsor the annual Woodbridge Run for Pizza on Wed., July 11, 2018. Sign-up today for the 4-mile run thru Alvin P. Williams Park and the Sewaren waterfront. Celebrate at the finish line with pizza provided by local restaurants. Prizes awarded to the top three overall female and male runners and the top three male and female runners in each age group. Register before July 9 for only $25.00 ($20.00 USATF-NJ members). Race Day Registration: $30.00. Corporate and Team Entries welcome! Run for Pizza is a USATF New Jersey 500 Point Event. Proceeds benefit the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports. See you at the finish line! After the run head over to Tanzman Park (across from the NJT Train Station) for the Local Band Thursday concert at 7:30 PM.

WPD Announces Summer Bicycle Safety Campaign “Safety” Summons Good For FREE Ice Cream Cone

The Woodbridge Police Department (WPD) announced the kick-off of the Summer Bicycle Safety Campaign which targets bicyclists under the age of 17. WPD officers on patrol will issue a “Safety” summons to youngsters wearing safety helmets – state law requires children under the age of 17 to wear a bicycle safety helmet while riding a bicycle, roller blades, skateboard or scooter. The “Safety” summons is good for a FREE ice cream cone at Colonia Dairy Maid (1075 St. Georges Ave., Colonia.)
