Mayor’s Summer Concert Series Ready to ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’

The Mayor’s Summer Concert Series ‘Doubles-Up’ this Summer with Golden Oldies Doo Wop Monday and Tribute Band Rock n’ Roll Tuesday!!! The incredible lineup of classic Monday ‘Oldies’ opens on June 24 with everyone’s favorite… The Duprees. Tribute Band Tuesday takes the stage on June 25 with Sail On (Beach Boys Tribute). Concerts start at 7:30 PM ‘on the lawn’ behind Woodbridge High School. Woodbridge Wednesday concerts return to the Parker Press Park stage on June 19 with performances every Wednesday night at 7:30 PM.

Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the FREE concerts with family and friends! Local Band Thursday kicks-off their hometown concert season with local musicians and their bands on June 27 at Tanzman Park (across from the Downtown Woodbridge Train Station) at 7:30 PM. Country Sunday returns to the Parker Press stage every Sunday night at 6:00 PM with the biggest Country-Western bands in the area. The cost of admission to the Mayor’s Summer Concerts is a can, or two, or three of non-perishable food for the We Feed Woodbridge Food Bank. AVENEL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

The Avenel Performing Arts Center (APAC) - the region’s newest performing arts center specially designed for theatre, stage productions and special performances - rolled-out the Red Carpet and welcomed theatre-goers with a Grand Opening Reception. The APAC features seating for 200 patrons, a separate performance room and pre-function lobby area that opens to exterior space for larger gatherings and events. APAC also features Curtains Restaurant – a stand-alone dining destination available for catered pre-performance and special events.

Greenable Woodbridge leads a “Walk in the Woodbridge Wild” at Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve in Avenel on Saturday (June 8). Explore the Oros Wildlife Preserve on a guided “Aquatic Walk” and learn about the fish and macroinvertebrate communities living in the Oros Preserve. Learn how the presence or absence of these critters can indicate the health of an aquatic ecosystem. Sampling nets provided. Waterproof shoes/boats suggested. Walk & Explore starts at 10:00 AM from the Ernie Oros Wildlife Preserve located at Omar Avenue in Avenel.

Walk the Middlesex County Greenway... Wed., June 12
|

Join Mayor Mac and the Woodbridge Wellness Campaign on Wed., June 12 for a ‘Walk on the Middlesex County Greenway.’ The Middlesex County Greenway is a great place to spend a Summer afternoon hiking or riding a bike. The ‘rails-to-trails’ Greenway follows the abandoned Lehigh Valley railroad along a 3.5-mile trail from Crows Mill Road in Woodbridge to Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen. Connected to several parks in the area, the Greenway weaves through Woodbridge, Metuchen and Edison as a green ribbon that ties the communities together. The Woodbridge section of the Greenway provides residents with a walking/hiking and bike trail, as well as a living classroom for educational and environmental exploration! Walkers meet at 5:30 PM at the Dudash Park/May Street Entrance (Edison).

The Club is the perfect complement to the Woodbridge Community Center (WCC) right across Main Street. Both facilities have a pool, running track, cardio rooms, weight rooms, concession areas and child care functions. Both run summer camps for kids and personal training and other amenities. The Club has racquetball and badminton, while the WCC has a hockey rink, roller rink, mini-golf course and batting cages.
