Hickory Senior Center in Fords 
Woodbridge Township Hosts 4 Senior Centers 
Evergreen Senior Center ~ Sycamore Senior Center ~ Five Branches Senior Center ~ Hickory Senior Center 

Mayor John E. McCormac hosted the Fords Women’s Club and the Fords Senior Club, along with more than 100 Woodbridge Township Senior residents, to celebrate the Grand Opening of the all-new Hickory Senior Center in the Fords section of Woodbridge with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. 

The Hickory Senior Center, located in the former Fords First Aid Squad building, stands as a gateway connecting the Township’s Senior residents 60 years-of-age and older by providing vital community services that help Seniors remain healthy, active and independent. The Hickory Senior Center represents the Fourth Senior Center to open in Woodbridge, joining the Evergreen Senior Center in Colonia, the Sycamore Senior Center in Sewaren/Port Reading, and the Five Branches Senior Center in Iselin. 

“The new multi-purpose Hickory Senior Center serves as important anchor in the Fords community offering quality services and programs that our Senior’s need and deserve,” said Mayor McCormac. “The Hickory Senior serves as the new home for the Fords Women’s Club – established more than 100 years ago - and the Fords Senior Club, and will offer Senior residents a convenient neighborhood multi-purpose center designed to engage every visitor in social, recreational, educational, health and wellness programs and activities that enhance their Quality-of-Life and serve to cultivate new friendships.” 

The 4,557 sq. ft. Hickory Senior Center features a large community room, activity rooms, game room, computer learning center with FREE wifi, and the Fords Corner Café’. Senior residents are encouraged to register as a member of the Hickory Senior Center – Registration is FREE. The Hickory Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. 

Joining Mayor McCormac to officially open the Hickory Senior Center were Councilman Brian Small, former Councilman James Carroll, Caroline Ehrlich, Chief-of-Staff, Dennis Green, Director, Department of Health & Senior Services, Shirley Genty, Division Head, Senior & Youth Services, Cynthia Ruzich, Senior Center Coordinator, Liz Longenhagen, Supervisor, Hickory & Five Branches Senior Center, Elizabeth Cowan, Hickory Center Coordinator, Sandra Dookhu, Sycamore Center Coordinator, Diane Mantagas, STOW Coordinator, Marta Lefsky, Department of Planning & Development, Chris Kosty, Construction Project Coordinator and Dennis Henry, Director Department of Public Works.
